I grew up as a military child in Canada and was shuffled across the country a number of times. I suppose that had something to do with my childhood love of writing. I was shy and lonely so spent my time with pen and paper more than anything. I also enjoyed creating artwork. My one other love was nature, and that about sums up all my childhood interests. I was just one of those shy children who spent all my time alone either writing, drawing, or collecting insect specimens.
Today, I am a mother of five with not so much time anymore for these things, though recently I did show some of my artwork at a local show. I grew up to study English in University and raised my children. Though at first the advent of the Web did not impress me, I started to see it as a medium of expression which showed no prejudices. To have my writing (short stories, novels and poetry) published through a mainstream publisher I would have to meet their qualifications. Perhaps I never would, so my work would have to remain in that box in the basement forever. With the Web, we all are free to publish whatever it is we have to say and open ourselves up to allow others to read it. It is then up to the reader to make a judgement, not the publisher.
Alot of what is presented here was written when I was very young. It is interesting to see how much my perspective on life has changed. I suppose I do not have the time anymore to philosophize, or even romanticize. It was good though to open up my book of poetry and finally release it!
