Letting Go

Sitting here listening to the patter of rain

Attempting to settle my clattering brain

Watching the drops turn the soil into mud

Feeling the throb in my veins of my blood

Thinking of you and the times that we had

Wondering why I would feel so sad.

I have only you and nobody else

I think that you want only yourself

No time in your life ever for me

I tried to tell you but you just won't see.

There comes a day when one just must let go

Sometimes we will cry at the end of a show

I'm true to my heart and I just won't lie

It tears me apart to say good-bye.

Yet despite the deep murky ponds of my woe

It cuts much less to simply let go.
